What this is

When the Election Commission conducts a Special Intensive Revision, each state publishes lists of electors removed from the roll along with the reason for removal. Those lists arrive as tens of thousands of separate documents, one per polling booth, in a dozen different languages and scripts. In that form they are almost impossible to reason about.

This platform ingests those publications, normalises them into a single schema, and presents them as connected analytics — by state, district, parliamentary constituency, assembly constituency and individual booth.

How the data is built

Ingestion

Booth-level publications are read directly from the source files. Every value is validated against a per-language vocabulary before loading, so a reason recorded in Odia, Telugu or Tamil resolves to the same category as its English equivalent rather than being silently dropped.

Normalisation

Removal reasons are reduced to five categories — Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Refused. Gender, age and relation type are standardised across every state so figures remain comparable.

Geography

District, parliamentary, assembly and booth names are resolved from a single reference set rather than from the roll text, so the same constituency is named identically everywhere it appears.

Classification

Surname, caste, religion and PDA-G category are derived from elector and relative names using a transliteration bridge that matches across scripts. Coverage varies by state and is reported openly on every page.

On accuracy

Every chart states the share of the population it actually covers. Where a dimension cannot be derived for a state, the page says so rather than presenting a partial figure as a complete one. Derived attributes such as caste and religion are statistical inferences from naming patterns, not records of individual identity, and should be read as aggregate indicators only.

Coverage today

27 of India's states and union territories are published, covering 10,11,05,222 removed electors across 10,71,555 polling booths. Remaining states are added as their SIR publications are released.
